Job Details:
Mercer University's Georgia Baptist College of Nursing seeks applications for an Administrative Support Assistant on the Macon campus. This is a 10-month position that reports to campus from August to May each academic year.
Responsibilities:
The Administrative Support Assistant provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to leadership, faculty, staff, and students in the College of Nursing on the Macon campus. This role coordinates day-to-day administrative functions, ensures efficient workflow, and supports key academic and operational processes. The position requires working independently within established procedures, exercising sound judgment to manage priorities, resolve routine issues, and support departmental needs.
The Administrative Support Assistant serves as a key point of contact and contributes to a professional, service-oriented environment by fostering effective communication and collaborative working relationships across the College, the broader university community, and external partners. The role supports institutional initiatives through strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality service.
This is a 10-month position that reports to campus from August through May each academic year.
Duties include:
  • Support the Dean, Associate Dean, and Macon faculty with administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Under the direction of the Associate Dean, liaison with the Pre-Nursing Advisor to facilitate matriculation of students to the nursing program.
  • Under the direction of the Associate Dean, in coordination with the Director of Admissions, assist with admissions processes.
  • Under the direction of the Associate Dean, support clinical readiness of students.
  • Assist the credentialing coordinators with the review of ACEMAPP
Required Qualifications:
A high school diploma/GED and a minimum of one year of prior office/clerical experience are required. Candidates with experience with databases and web-based platforms are highly desired.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficiency in standard office technology, including email, internet applications, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to compose, edit, and manage professional correspondence and documents for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience using multiple software systems (e.g., Workday, Anthology) to enter, track, and manage data accurately.
  • Ability to effectively utilize institutional systems and online tools for scheduling, communications, and event coordination.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and build effective working relationships across a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies and systems to support operational needs and resolve routine technical issues.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and workflows efficiently.
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
