Daikin Applied is hiring a Supplier Development Engineer! The purpose of the Supplier Development Engineer is to increase the capability of our high-risk, critical, and strategic suppliers, improving cost, quality, and timeliness of delivered products to Daikin. Under limited supervision, you will be responsible for completing technical analytical assessments and reports to identify supplier quality and performance issues within current supply base as well as evaluation of potential future suppliers. You will work on-site with suppliers to enhance their productivity and efficiency and evaluate engineering design producibility as well as design to cost to drive drawing changes that will aid in a supplier's capabilities to perform and reduce cost. You will work closely with strategic sourcing and procurement as well as DAA's business unit's Materials, Engineering and Manufacturing organizations and support the development of informational processes and channels of communication. What you will do:

  • Complete technical supplier assessments relating to manufacturing capability (machinery, tooling, processes), quality, workforce, capacity, continuous improvement, and sub-tier management
  • Review and develop supplier capacity analysis and tools
  • Develop, initiate and maintain supplier specific development plans
  • Develop, initiate and maintain supplier specific KPI performance management
  • Deploys risk mitigation plans
  • Monitor, support and facilitate continuous improvement events and initiatives
  • Review engineering designs as related to a specific supplier's capabilities and facilitate producibility and design to cost changes
  • Review new product introduction designs for producibility and design to cost
  • Investigate problem jobs and participate in solutions to improve product quality and recover expenses incurred by Daikin that are the responsibility of the supplier
  • Conduct presentations to internal customers and business unit management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in management or STEM
  • 8+ Year of experience with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or similar
  • Ability to travel up to 40% if necessary

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of related field operations/Supply Chain experience on manufacturing products, controls, and systems
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Experience coordinating teams of internal and external clients

The range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls is $90,400.00 - $151,800 + 10% bonus potential. (Typical pay rate is $115,000 - $135,000). Individual pay rate will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
