Job description

Children's Pastor - Summit Church

The Children’s Pastor reports to the Next Generations Pastor and will provide vision, strategy, programming, and development for children infants – 5th grade, including weekend services, mid-week childcare, and special events. The primary goal is to be the Pastor that helps children develop their relationship with Jesus Christ by partnering with parents and the Kids Ministry Team to encourage their children and help families to set a Biblical foundation in their children's lives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides pastoral care and friendly service to children and their families
  • Develops strategies for reaching new children & families through social media and other marketing
  • Ensures the Kids Ministry team connects with children and families
  • Communicate with parents and Summit Staff regarding upcoming events and activities for Kids Ministry
  • Recruit, train, and develop a team Summit Kids Ministry staff and volunteers
  • Set specific, measurable goals to ensure that the vision and purpose of the ministry is being achieved
  • Attends all ministry meetings and trainings
  • Create interactive lessons based on God’s Word with the goal of introducing children to Jesus Christ and Biblical Discipleship using worship, crafts, activities, object lessons etc. appropriate for their age

MINISTRY EVENTS

  • Collaborate with the Next Generations Coordinator by creating themes/lessons and casting vision for Elementary Ministry Events which include but are not limited to Kids’ Camp, VBS, Chosen Kids, and Christmas activities.
  • Collaborate with other Summit Church departments and participate in Corporate Events including but limited to Summit Life, Easter events, Volunteer Appreciation Party, Chosen and Christmas Blast

ADMINISTRATION

  • Oversee Kids Ministry resources & approve purchase ideas that the Kids Ministry team wishes to submit
  • Utilize all church management software to observe and analyze Kids Ministry team’s effectiveness
  • Knowledgeable about all measures of ministry growth
  • Answer questions and concerns that may arise with professionalism and knowledge of Summit’s corporate culture.

COMPETENCIES

  • Analytical Skills Required: analyze different information and accurately determine order of importance
  • Time Management Skills Required: Prioritize tasks and adhere to the deadlines set by oversight
  • Communication Skills Required: ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and speaking while adapting to communication style to suit different audiences
  • Customer Service Skills Required: maintain a positive attitude, friendly face and have charisma when interacting with families, children, and volunteers
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and acute attention to detail

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ministry degree preferred, but not required
  • High school diploma or GED diploma
  • 3+ years of Children’s Ministry leadership experience preferred, but not required
  • Agreement with our church’s vision, goals, and statement of faith
  • Basic knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft 365, and Planning Center
  • 2+ years of administrative experience
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
