Job description

Overview

This person will perform routine College Store stockroom functions, operate the cash register, and assist with stocking merchandise and textbooks.

Schedule:

  • Now through July 31, 2026: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • August 3, 2026 through September 11, 2026: Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Occasional weekends as needed.
Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Must be able to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations. Required

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous retailing experience. Preferred

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required
  • Ability to work on own initiative. Required
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers, staff, and the public. Required

Responsibilities
  • Unload trucks of College Store merchandise.
  • Unpack boxes of delivered merchandise.
  • Check in and verify College Store merchandise.
  • Place price stickers on resale items.
  • Move priced merchandise to selling area and/or designated locations.
  • Prepare and pack merchandise for return to vendors.
  • Maintain area of assignment in clean and orderly fashion.
  • Maintain watchful eye for shoplifters.
  • Assist the Textbook department staff with the receiving and stocking of textbooks.
  • Assist Textbook department staff with the pulling and packing of textbook internet orders.
  • Assist with annual store inventory.
  • Operate Cash Register

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assemble tool kits in offsite warehouse, as needed.
Physical Standards and Special Job Features
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently and up to 200 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
