Job Title: Summer Enrichment Instructor. Arts and STEAM

Location: Multiple program locations across the Atlanta Metro Area

Department: Summer Programs

Reports to: Program Director

Position Type: Seasonal. Part Time. 1099 Contractor

Program Duration: 6 Week Summer Program during June and July

Schedule: Monday through Friday. Daytime Summer Camp Hours (Schedule may vary by site)



Job Overview

Artportunity Knocks is seeking enthusiastic Summer Enrichment Instructors to support our Arts and STEAM summer programming for students in grades K through 8. This position is part of a 6 week summer program running during June and July and focuses on delivering engaging and hands on enrichment experiences through visual arts, STEM learning, creative projects, academic activities, and social emotional development.


Summer instructors will lead interactive lessons, projects, games, and collaborative activities that keep students engaged, learning, and inspired throughout the summer months. Some outdoor activities may be included as part of the program experience.


This role is ideal for educators, paraprofessionals, creatives, college students, and youth leaders who are passionate about mentoring young people and helping them explore creativity, innovation, and leadership.



Key Responsibilities



Instruction and Program Delivery

Facilitate Artportunity Knocks curriculum using structured daily and weekly lesson plans

Lead engaging lessons across arts, STEM, academic enrichment, and social emotional learning

Design and implement age appropriate projects and activities that promote creativity and discovery

Support student completion of creative or STEM based projects that may culminate in a final showcase or presentation



Student Engagement and Development

Encourage participation and create an inclusive and welcoming learning environment

Identify teachable moments that support personal and academic growth

Foster leadership, teamwork, and confidence in students

Model positive behavior including respect, citizenship, and sportsmanship



Classroom Management and Safety

Implement classroom management strategies aligned with Artportunity Knocks policies and site guidelines

Supervise students during transitions, activities, meals, and program rotations

Ensure assigned student groups are supervised and safe at all times

Maintain a structured, fun, and safe environment for all participants



Collaboration and Team Support

Work collaboratively with program staff, leadership, and volunteers

Maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, students, and families

Support daily program operations and summer camp activities



Qualifications


Required

High school diploma or GED

Minimum 1 year experience supervising or working with children in an educational, camp, or enrichment setting

Ability to plan, organize, and lead activities for groups of children

Proven ability to maintain safe and structured environments

Positive attitude, leadership mindset, and strong communication skills

Ability to pass a background check

General mobility including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and light lifting up to 20 pounds



Preferred

Experience as a camp counselor, afterschool instructor, paraprofessional, or teacher

First Aid and Child and Adult CPR Certification

Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
