Job DescriptionDepartment:Museum Community and Visitor Engagement - JMPay Rate Type:HourlyEmployee Type:Job Summary:For Summer 2026, there will be one full-time Welcome Desk Attendant opening at the Colby College Museum of Art. This job is open to the general public and Colby College students. Welcome Desk Attendants are hired to work 35 to 40 hours per week, including weekend hours. The pay rate is $15.10/hour. This is a temporary job, which begins on May 26, and ends on September 6, 2026 (please note that there is some flexibility with those dates).

The Colby College Museum of Art's Welcome Desk Attendants provide a positive, welcoming presence for all museum visitors. The attendant sets the tone for the visitor experience and should be prepared to greet and create a welcoming museum environment for all audiences. The attendant provides essential, up-to-date information to guests about museum exhibitions, college and community resources, membership, museum policies and procedures, hours, etc. The attendant also oversees all transactions associated with the Museum's gift shop.


The attendant position requires a high level of organization, enthusiasm, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously. The attendant is responsible for visitor evaluations (via COVES), data tracking, and related tasks.A courteous demeanor, professional attire, and promptness are required at all times.
