Job description

As a Phillips 66 Refining Engineer University New Hire, you will participate in training and developmental programs which provide a comprehensive roadmap for early career engineers at Phillips 66. Our focus is to help you gain a more robust understanding of the refining processes and the energy industry in an environment that embraces collaboration and values your contributions.

Our Refining operations are comprised of global refining, marketing and transportation of petroleum products and related specialty businesses. Through its Refining business segment, Phillips 66 is upgrading crude oil and other feedstocks into higher-value petroleum products including clean-burning gasoline, ultra-low-sulfur diesel, jet fuel, lubricants, petroleum coke and other specialty products while maintaining a high regard for safety and environmental limitations.

Potential  locations include: Linden, NJ; Lake Charles, LA; Roxana, IL; Ferndale, WA; Billings, MT; Borger, TX; Ponca City, OK; Sweeny, TX.

What You'll Do

  • Receive an introduction to company practices, procedures and technical tools, technical training classes, participating in technical networks, and on-the-job training.
  • Learn from internal and external experts and collaborate with more experienced engineers within your business.
  • Phillips 66 Engineers may begin their careers by contributing in these key areas: business or economic analysis, control systems, equipment reliability, maintenance and/or operations

What You'll Bring - Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science/Corrosion, Metallurgical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent field of study
  • Graduating in Summer/Winter 2026 or Spring/Summer 2027.
  • Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair or clean shaven)
  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)

What Makes You Stand Out - Preferred

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Previous internship with Phillips 66.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in a related industry.
  • Willing to work in any of our operating locations
  • Valid driver's license 

Compensation Range

This position has a base salary range of $111,100 - $120,700, dependent on a candidate's degree type and level of education.
