Description
The Middlebury College Summer German School is pleased to announce a vacancy for an appointment as a temporary Instructor of German. The position is available during the summer 2019 session (June 28th - August 16th), located on Middlebury College's campus in Vermont. Designated as an AATG German Center of Excellence in 2013, Middlebury's German School and its unique 7-week program combine a cultural immersion environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction. This is an opportunity to join a community of learners, by actively engaging in teaching, dining, residing and recreational activities with students while reading, writing and speaking exclusively in German
In addition to the salary, lodging and a complete meal plan will be provided. Insurance is available.
Qualifications
We are looking for a faculty member with the following qualifications: Ph.D. in German Studies or German Applied Linguistics/Second Language Acquisition in hand by June 2019; native or near-native proficiency in German language; formal training in second language pedagogy and teaching; demonstrated excellence in teaching German language and culture at all levels; at least two years of experience teaching at an institution of higher education in the United States; experience in teaching students of diverse learning backgrounds. ABDs will be considered under certain circumstances. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, dynamic and confident teacher with a true commitment to student learning.
