Job Requirements:Do you love working with kids?
Are you a professional educator, or former educator with classroom management experience?
Do you love the beautiful chaos of project-based learning?
Are you willing to travel to different schools in Summerlin, the southwest, and Spring Valley?
Do you have weekday afternoons free to spark a love of exploration in some of our community's children? Schedule:
On School days- Start times are mostly between 2:00 pm-4:00 pm. Classes are 60 minutes long and meet once a week. You can be scheduled for as many of these classes as your availability allows. We also pay 30 minutes before and after each class to cover set-up, dismissal, load-out, etc. Teachers are also compensated for preparation time once a week at our center to prepare supplies. We expect this position to get between 5-15 hours per week regularly. We would start at the lower end of that range and gradually add in more hours per week as we add more classes for you to teach. If you'd like more hours, we can also schedule you to sub for classes at our learning center in the evenings as need arises.
Optional Holiday camp hours- We schedule teachers in advance based on their availability and black-out dates they share with us at the beginning of the season. Teachers can be scheduled for Whole day camps (8:30 am to 4:30 pm), half day camps (end or begin at 12:30 pm), or occasional workshops/subbing. Teachers also get paid preparation time for each camp they are leading. Most camps are held at our Learning Center. We also have lots of hours available during summer to teach summer camps.
Pay:
Payroll is every two weeks. Usually our Lead Teachers start at: $15/hour, but we're willing to start at $17-20/hour for a new teacher with significant classroom management experience and science/engineering experience.
Job Description:
Lead hands-on engineering and technology projects to inspire problem-solving skills, collaboration, and creativity. Normal age groups will be ages 7-10. Teacher to student ratio is 1:16 or less. Curriculum and all supplies are provided. Online training materials and on the job training are provided. Right now we're specifically looking for an Engineering teacher, to implement curriculum related to Aerospace, Marine, Mechanical, Chemical and Civil Engineering.
Recommended Skills:
Reliability, promptness, organization, communication, patience, ability to travel to and find the various locations of our classes, people skills, attention to detail. Instructors with experience/education in fields of science, education, math, technology are preferred.
Compensation: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
