Description The Summer Sports Camp Volunteer supports the Intergenerational Recreation Center's youth sports camp by assisting with supervision, activity setup, and general program support. Volunteers help ensure a safe, positive, and engaging environment for children participating in a variety of sports and recreational activities. This role is ideal for individuals interested in youth development, recreation, coaching, or community service.
Essential Job Duties Assist staff with supervising campers during sports activities, group games, and transitions between activities. Help set up, organize, and clean up equipment for sports sessions such as basketball, soccer, flag football, volleyball, and indoor games. Encourage positive teamwork, sportsmanship, and participation among campers.
Support staff in maintaining a safe and structured environment. Participate in activity demonstrations when appropriate and comfortable. Monitor camper behavior and promptly report concerns to camp staff.
Help distribute snacks, water, or supplies as directed. Assist with check-in, check-out, and general group movement between program areas. Serve as a positive role model and represent Indian River County Parks and Recreation in a professional manner.
Follow all department policies, safety procedures, and staff instructions. Typical Requirements Attendance at mandatory orientation and safety training before volunteering. Reliable attendance and punctuality during scheduled volunteer shifts.
Adherence to all county policies and code of conduct standards.
