Position Overview
Viakorp Corporation is seeking a qualified Data Analysis & Programming Tutor to provide evening academic support to cadets at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The tutor will help students develop technical knowledge in programming, data analysis, and business intelligence while supporting academic success across computing-related coursework.
Job Title: Data Analysis & Programming Tutor
Location: U.S. Coast Guard Academy, 33 Mohegan Avenue, New London, CT 06320
Schedule:
  • Sunday-Thursday, 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
  • One additional weekday (3:00 PM - 7:00 PM) for faculty coordination and additional tutoring
  • Services provided during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters
Subjects Covered:
  • Data Analysis & Visualization
  • Principles of Programming
  • Tools for Business Intelligence
Tasks:
  • Conduct individual and group tutoring sessions for cadets.
  • Explain programming concepts, coding techniques, data analysis methods, and software tools.
  • Assist students with assignments, programming projects, and exam preparation.
  • Maintain weekly tutoring records and student attendance documentation.
  • Coordinate weekly with faculty to ensure tutoring aligns with current coursework.
  • Identify students requiring additional academic assistance and communicate concerns to instructors.
  • Provide professional academic support in an on-campus learning environment.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum one (1) year of tutoring experience in higher education.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience collaborating with faculty in higher education.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
