Are you a social media enthusiast with a passion for baseball and a knack for storytelling? The Mid-State Melon Mashers, a dynamic wood-bat baseball team, are seeking a creative and driven Social Media Intern to join our team for the upcoming season. This is an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sports marketing and content creation, helping us connect with our fans and grow our digital footprint for both the Melon Mashers and our "Safe at Second Base" initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and execute daily operations across Mid-State Melon Mashers social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok, with a focus on promoting both the team and the "Safe at Second Base" program.
  • Develop, create, and schedule compelling multimedia content (graphics, photos, videos, reels, stories, GIFs) that aligns with team branding and engages our audience.
  • Provide real-time, engaging coverage of games, practices, and team events, including pre-game hype, in-game updates, and post-game recaps, as well as behind-the-scenes glimpses and player spotlights.
  • Utilize editing tools such as CapCut and leverage AI tools like ChatGPT to enhance content creation and strategy.
  • Monitor social media trends, platform updates, and engagement metrics to optimize content strategy and identify growth opportunities.
  • Work closely with players, coaches, and front office staff to conceptualize and produce original, authentic content.
  • Actively contribute to strategies aimed at increasing follower count, engagement rates, and overall brand awareness throughout the season.
  • Assist in community management by responding to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated passion for baseball and a strong understanding of the sports industry.
  • Proficiency with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) and their respective content formats.
  • Experience with content creation and editing tools, including but not limited to CapCut, and familiarity with AI tools like ChatGPT for content generation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, including evenings and weekends during game days.
  • Creative mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and executing new content ideas.

What You'll Gain
  • Hands-on experience in sports social media management and content creation.
  • Opportunity to build a portfolio of published work for a college summer baseball team.
  • Mentorship from experienced sports professionals.
  • Exposure to the operations of a college summer wood-bat baseball team and community initiatives.
  • This is an unpaid internship.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
