Chief Information Officer

Summary:
Responsible for leading a comprehensive full-service Information Technology function for Summa Health supporting Provider (Hospitals and Medical group) and Insurance operations. Evaluates new technologies to determine when and how technologies can and should be used in Summa. Anticipates and coordinates Information Technology & Services' internal and external client requirements to establish a consistent goals and direction for Information Technology & Services as it relates to the mission of Summa. Works in conjunction with the Chief Medical Information Officer and the Summa Health Executive Staff to develop, implement, and maintain the Information Technology Strategic Plan for the System that supports the Summa Health Strategic Plan.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field, Masters Degree preferred
2. Experience & Training Required:
a. Seven (7) to Ten (10) years of experience leading a complex information technology function within a healthcare system environment
b. Five (5) years in direct support roles within information technology
c. Demonstrated knowledge of Provider (Hospital and Medical Group) and Insurance operations.
3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Ability to direct the work of others
b. Strong oral and written communication skills
c. Ability to analyze problem situations, recommend positive solutions and see the solution to resolution
d. Ability to work with all levels of the organization
e. Ability to understand complex engineering and computer technologies and relate them back to Summa
f. Assumes accountability for demonstrating behaviors consistent with the customer service policy
g. Outstanding project management skills
h. Ability to focus on operations
i. Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) preferred
4. Population Specific Competency:
a. Ability to effectively interact with patients/customers with the understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
5. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
