JOB TITLE:
Office Aide: Education Abroad
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:
The University of Wyoming Education Abroad Office helps students expand their academic, personal, and professional horizons through credit-bearing study abroad, exchange, internship, research, and faculty-led programs in more than 80 countries. The office provides advising, program planning, scholarship guidance, and comprehensive support before, during, and after students' international experiences, helping them develop the global perspectives and cross-cultural skills needed to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.
Job location: Cheney International Center
Pay rate or range: $12 per hour
JOB PURPOSE:
The Education Abroad Office Student Worker provides front-line administrative and peer advising support to the Global Engagement Office. This role promotes UWYO Education Abroad programs, assists with student engagement initiatives, and contributes to the smooth operation of the office through clerical and communication tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor and respond to inquiries via the uwyoabd@uwyo.edu email account
  • Greet and assist visitors to the Cheney International Center front desk
  • Schedule student advising meetings and manage conference room calendars (024 & 129)
  • Answer, direct, and manage phone calls professionally
  • Restock office supplies and assist with daily office operations
  • Assist with marketing via social media, email campaigns, and website updates
  • Support the coordination of the UWYO Abroad Photo Contests
  • Conduct peer advising for prospective and current Education Abroad students
  • Send promotional materials to exchange partner institutions overseas
  • Complete special projects using platforms such as Google Drive, Microsoft Office, Canva, YouTube/Vimeo, and MailChimp
  • Manage prospective student data and email lists
  • Give Education Abroad 101 Classroom presentations and assist with tabling events

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Participate in student leader training sessions
  • Represent the Education Abroad Office at events and student activities
  • Track and report Cheney Give-Back requirements
  • Assist other Global Engagement Office staff as neeeded with general outreach and engagement efforts

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.
  • Current enrollment as a University of Wyoming student
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Willingness to learn about Education Abroad programs and services
  • Availability to work during business hours on campus

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing
  • Prior event planning or peer leadership experience
  • Comfort speaking in group settings or on the phone
  • Experience working in a customer service or administrative support role
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Canva, MailChimp, YouTube, or Google Suite
  • Have completed one or more study abroad programs with the University of Wyoming
