Utah Valley University is looking for students with a background in supporting performance events or related skills
Summary of Responsibilities
This position supports the specific areas of scenic, lighting, and sound design. From this position, we assign applicants to the production area they have experience or desire. We are seeking dependable, easy going individuals that display a good attention to detail. The Noorda Center for the Performing Arts, as part of Utah Valley University School of the Arts, produces a wide array of musicals, plays, and concerts in addition to presenting touring artists and hosting university events.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
- Must be a current UVU student
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction of scenic elements helpful, but not required
- Arithmetic, algebra, and geometry required for the execution of plans and drawings
- Basic shop safety rules and procedure
Skills in:
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternate solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a specific task
- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
Ability to:
- Quickly move and coordinate fingers, limbs, and body to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects
- Exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
- Apply general rules to specific problems and produce answers that make sense
- Arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations)
