Position Summary:
Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a part-time Academic Support Coach on the West Bend Campus. The Academic Support Coach provides academic support to students in Student Success Center lab environments through one-on-one and small group learning experiences that support college-level, developmental-level and pre-college students.
The position also provides supplemental learning support aligned with faculty-led courses by reinforcing course content, and supporting the development of effective study strategies.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in related field and one to two years experience providing academic support, tutoring, or supplemental instruction to diverse learners in an education setting. We will accept applications until the position is filled; however, applicants who apply by June 17, 2026 will be considered in our first review of applicants.

Responsibilities:
• Provide high quality, flexible, and pedagogically sound academic support and supplemental instruction for students in the Student Success Center, that reinforce course content and support the development of effective study strategies.
• Create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment that promotes student success for those requiring additional academic assistance.
• Employ rapid assessment techniques to support student understanding of course content and the development of general study skills.
• Design and utilize supplemental learning materials to meet student learning needs.
• Use feedback as a developmental tool to support continuous improvement in academic support practices and collegiality.
• Effectively support students across multiple instructional formats including face-to-face, hybrid, and virtual environments.
• Maintain positive relationships within faculty and staff across the college including University Transfer and STEM courses, occupational programs, and student services at MPTC.
• Integrate instructional and learning technologies to enhance the delivery of student support.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students using strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
Experience & Qualifications(in addition to those listed in the summary above):
• Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, course content and the ability to clearly explain concepts to support student comprehension.
• Knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Office 365 (Office Suite, MS Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with end users, colleagues, and management to provide a complete and timely explanation of issues and decisions to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Ability to take initiative, work independently with little supervision and make sound decisions with minimal direction.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize special projects with routine assignments.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team.
• High degree of integrity and professionalism, an ability to respect the confidentiality of information and demonstrate critical and systems thinking capacity.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive environment and culture.
Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Education
• Experience with supporting multiple academic content areas.
Other Position Requirements:
• Flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends.
Hiring Range: $27.49-$31.88 (pending board approval)
Starting: August 3, 2026
Workplace Flexibility: This position is not eligible for remote work.
Hours/Schedule/Travel: Academic: Monday - Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (26 hours), Summer (June and July): Monday - Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (26 hours)
