Position Announcement: Student Success Specialist

Northeastern Junior College is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to serve as the Northeastern Junior College Student Success Specialist. The Student Success Specialist is an integral member of the NJC Student Success Team and is responsible for developing, implementing, and expanding programs and services that promote student retention, persistence, and academic success.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be:

Key responsibilities include coordinating New Student Orientation, facilitating students' successful transition to college, and researching and implementing evidence-based strategies to address achievement gaps. The Student Success Specialist monitors students in need of additional support and connects them with appropriate campus and community resources to promote academic success and personal well-being.

This position provides academic advising and individualized support to students, with a particular focus on at-risk and underserved populations. The Student Success Specialist develops and distributes family outreach materials to strengthen student support and family engagement.

In addition, the position also collaborates with the Student Success Team to plan and facilitate registration events and other student success initiatives that enhance enrollment, retention, and degree completion. In collaboration with four-year colleges and universities, the Student Success Specialist coordinates transfer events, assists students with transfer planning, and provides individualized guidance. The Student Success Specialist supports the Testing Center by scheduling, proctoring, administering, and analyzing a variety of assessments.

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Proficiency working in one-on-one situations
  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Experience with tracking outcomes and/or writing reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Experience working with high school and/or college students
  • Proficient use of computers and applications

What We Can Offer:

This is a full-time professional appointment. Annual salary is $38,000-$42,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Competitive fringe benefit package available which includes medical, dental, life, PERA Retirement Plan, 11 paid holidays, and several optional benefits. Position to begin as soon as a qualified candidate is identified.
