The mission of the Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service is to integrate civic engagement into George Washington University's educational work. We promote equity and active citizenship in a diverse democracy, focus GW's resources to address community needs through reciprocal partnerships beyond the campus, and enhance teaching, learning, and scholarship at GW.
Position Specific Summary
Community Engaged Scholarship (CES) courses engage GW students in service and collaborative projects with local nonprofit organizations and government agencies. CES Course Guides support the instructors of these courses, and also assist the Community Engaged Scholarship Coordinator to promote and support this work generally. For their assigned courses, students provide support to the students, faculty, and community partners as needed, including: responding to questions, providing occasional in-class instruction on how to find and report service activities, assisting students in service organization placements, gathering and reporting data on student service activities, and assisting instructors and community partners as needed. Special projects or other duties may be assigned.
Standard Position Description
The student will assist in the administrative functions of special projects. Tasks may include:assist with project or program development and maintenance, perform administrative tasks, assist in data collection and data entry, attend and assist in the scheduling of meetings, provide support for events related to the project/program. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.
