Instructional Student Assistant Pool AY 26-27

POSITION

The Department of Economics at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant Pool.

The position will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assist faculty with evaluating student work and examinations.
  • Assist in the departmental office in providing guidance and information.
  • Collect and organize student submissions made through hard copy, Canvas, and/or other digital submission facilities.
  • Read, evaluate, and assign grades to student work. Maintain and submit student grades.
  • Meet regularly with a faculty supervisor, in-person, by phone, or by email.
  • Meet deadlines defined by university policy and/or supervisor.
  • Assist administrative support coordinator and administrative assistant with clerical duties.
  • Complete student worker training as required.
  • Other duties as assigned

This is a pool of Instructional Student Assistants for the department to draw on as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled as a graduate student in economics or as a senior undergraduate economics student (not on probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Excellent computer skills including Canvas, Office, Excel and PowerPoint and other spreadsheet and data entry experience.
  • Type 40 CWAM and have a working knowledge of library and internet research.
  • Must have an excellent command of English - both oral and written
  • Be able to follow directions, show initiative, be reliable and have the ability to assist with large classes
  • Must be available to hold office hours

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Federal Work Study student
  • Graduate student and undergraduate student in the Department of Economics

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.84 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $19.00
