Job description

Lead Low Voltage & Security Systems TechnicianPosition Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Low Voltage & Security Systems Technician to oversee and work alongside a two-person installation team consisting of a Lead Technician and an Installation Technician.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of access control systems, CCTV systems, gate and barrier operators, telephone entry systems, networking equipment, structured cabling, and audio/video systems.

The Lead Technician will direct daily field operations, maintain installation quality standards, ensure code compliance, and mentor junior technicians while helping develop future leaders within the organization.


Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development
  • Lead and supervise a two-person installation team.

  • Assign daily tasks and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.

  • Train and mentor Installation Technicians on installation procedures, troubleshooting techniques, safety practices, and industry best practices.

  • Support the professional development of team members and prepare junior technicians for advancement into Lead Technician roles.

  • Promote a positive, productive, and safety-focused work environment.

Installation & Technical Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and commission:

    • Access Control Systems

    • CCTV / IP Video Surveillance Systems

    • Barrier Arm Operator Systems

    • Telephone Entry and Intercom Systems

    • Audio/Video Systems

    • Network Infrastructure Equipment

    • Structured Cabling and Low-Voltage Systems

  • Perform system startup, testing, programming, and commissioning.

  • Troubleshoot system and network issues during installation and project closeout.

  • Perform light welding and fabrication for:

    • Magnetic lock installations

    • Strike boxes

    • Mounting pedestals

    • Custom brackets

    • Bollards

    • Equipment supports

    • Related infrastructure components

  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, shop drawings, and technical specifications.

  • Coordinate with project managers, service personnel, customers, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful project completion.

Documentation & Equipment Management
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, installation records, and as-built information.

  • Ensure company vehicles, tools, and equipment are properly maintained and secured.

  • Track materials, project progress, and field changes as required.


Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading installation crews within the low-voltage, security, gate automation, access control, or technology integration industries.

  • Proven experience installing and troubleshooting:

    • Access Control Systems

    • CCTV / IP Camera Systems

    • Telephone Entry Systems

    • Barrier Arm Operator Systems

    • Audio/Video Systems

    • Network Equipment and Structured Cabling

  • Strong understanding of low-voltage wiring practices and electrical fundamentals.

  • Working knowledge of:

    • AC/DC theory

    • Relays and control circuits

    • Power supplies

    • Electronic troubleshooting techniques

  • Networking knowledge including:

    • IP Addressing

    • Subnetting

    • Router Configuration

    • Managed Switches

    • LAN/WAN Connectivity

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

  • Experience using digital multimeters and electronic diagnostic equipment.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to train, mentor, and develop less-experienced technicians.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to distinguish wire colors and perform detailed wiring tasks.
