Role: Geospatial Data Structure Specialist

Location: Remote

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Geospatial Data Structure Specialist to support the development and implementation of a modern GIS-enabled permitting system. This role focuses on GIS mapping, data automation, geospatial data management, and system integration to replace legacy platforms with a scalable, efficient solution.


Key Responsibilities

GIS Mapping & Infrastructure

  • Design and implement GIS mapping frameworks, tools, and infrastructure aligned with modern permitting workflows
  • Develop and maintain geospatial building layers for permits and inspections

Data Management & Automation

  • Automate GIS workflows using Python scripting to improve data accuracy and efficiency
  • Perform spatial and tabular data analysis for reporting and decision-making
  • Ensure high data quality through validation, cleansing, and governance practices

System Integration & Support

  • Configure and manage GIS map services for enterprise applications
  • Integrate GIS platforms with web-based applications and third-party systems
  • Support geospatial data alignment with business systems and workflows

Geodatabase & Feature Management

  • Manage geodatabases, including data loading, transformation, and troubleshooting
  • Oversee building footprint datasets and optimize GIS services performance

Reporting & Metrics

  • Analyze geospatial data usage and provide insights for system improvements
  • Generate reports to support operational and strategic decision-making

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery
  • Provide regular updates, documentation, and status reports

Must-Have Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with ESRI ArcGIS (ArcGIS 10.x or higher)
