Job description

Structural Steel Detailing Manager
This person would be tasked with the following:
  • Oversite, writing, updating, and maintaining the company detailing manual.
  • Oversite and auditing of all 3rd party detailing firms.
  • Vetting and procurement of new 3rd party detailing firms.
  • Plan, assign, direct and review work of Drafter/Detailers for in house detailers
  • Assist in assigning and monitoring work of outside detailing firms.
  • Traveling to audit 3rd party detailing firms.

Ideal candidates should have experience in:
  • Detailing Stairs, handrail, miscellaneous metals, ornamental nonferrous metals, and structural steel.
  • Knowledge of the major detailing software such as AutoCAD, SDS2, Tekla, Advance Steel.
  • Detailing standards
  • Reading and understanding Architectural and structural design drawings.
  • Managing multiple projects
  • Managing people.
  • Microsoft Excel, word, and outlook.

Requirements for the position:
  • 10 Years drafting/detailing experience, with the majority in structural steel, stairs, handrails and miscellaneous metals.
  • Minimum of 2 years in management roll.
  • 5 years' experience using Advance Steel, Tekla, SDS/2 or equivalent 3D steel modeling software.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with engineering and fabrication personnel.
  • Experience with providing information for steel fabrication or manufacturing equipment utilizing CAD capabilities.
  • Associates degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management preferred, but not required if candidate has above noted 10 years' experience. Less experience can be substituted for degree.
