Job description

We are now hiring for a Pre-Engineered Metal Building Steel Detailer (Tekla Structures) for a company based in New Braunfels, TX. Please submit your resume to this posting for review.

Salary: [$70-95k for mid-level, $95-115k for senior.]

Role overview:
Produce fabrication-ready shop drawings in Tekla Structures for pre-engineered metal buildings — primary framing, secondary members, panels, accessories, and connection details — translating engineering output from MBS (Metal Building Software) and architectural plans into fully detailed, accurate, and constructible drawings.

Key responsibilities:
  • Create 3D Tekla models and 2D shop drawings (erection, assembly, and part drawings) for PEMB projects
  • Detail primary rigid frames, cold-formed secondary members (Cees, Zees, eave struts), wall and roof panels (standing seam), and standard accessories
  • Coordinate with company's in-house engineering team to resolve design details before fab release
  • Verify dimensions, member sizes, connections, and bolt patterns against engineering output
  • Apply AISC 360, MBMA, and IAS AC472 standards to all detailing work
  • Output BOM and part lists compatible with company's production system
  • Participate in QC checks before fab release
  • Support shop and field with RFI responses during fabrication and erection
Required:
  • 3+ years of structural steel detailing experience (5+ for senior consideration)
  • Proficiency in Tekla Structures (current version)
  • Working knowledge of AISC 360 detailing conventions and NISD standards
  • Strong understanding of bolted and welded connections
  • English-language fluency, US-based
  • Ability to interpret structural drawings, calculations, and engineering specifications
Preferred:
  • PEMB / metal building experience (significant plus)
  • Familiarity with MBS (Metal Building Software)
  • Secondary proficiency i AutoCAD
  • NISD certification
