What You'll Do

As a Structural Engineer / Project Manager, you'll oversee transportation-focused structural projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and client satisfaction while mentoring junior staff and contributing to business development.


Responsibilities

  • Perform structural design and analysis for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and related infrastructure; prepare calculations and technical reports.
  • Lead preparation of structural drawing sets, details, and specifications.
  • Review and approve work of junior staff, ensuring compliance with AASHTO, PennDOT, and other applicable standards.
  • Manage client relationships, agency reviews, and permitting; respond to comments and secure approvals.
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and deliverables; proactively track and adjust as needed.
  • Coordinate with roadway, drainage, and traffic teams for integrated designs.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers.
  • Support business development and proposal efforts for structural projects.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • 8-10 years of structural design experience in infrastructure/transportation.
  • Strong background in project management (scheduling, budgeting, coordination).
  • Proficiency with structural design software (PennDOT LRFD Programs, MIDAS, SAP2000, etc.).
  • Knowledge of DOT, AASHTO, and state design codes and standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including client/agency interaction.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in PA (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience leading multi-discipline project teams.
