Program Manager - Stroke Program
The Program Manager coordinates activities of the Stroke Program by developing, implementing and coordinating activities through interdisciplinary collaboration and utilization of stroke guidelines and practice standards.
Essential Job Duties:
Develops and promotes evidence-based stroke education and training for physicians, staff, prehospital personnel, patients and families. Plans and coordinates community outreach educational activities.
Leads Stroke Program Committee and participates in other hospital based committees. Oversees policy development with periodic review and update of care guidelines to support the stroke program.
Attends Code Stroke, and serves as a clinical resource for the care and management of stroke patients.
Follows up on patient care issues with physicians, staff, prehospital personnel, patients and families.
Acts as a liaison between hospital and outside entities through participation in regional meetings related to stroke.
Qualifications
Excellent communication, problem-solving and planning skills.
Ability to work well as part of a team
Ability to work with all levels of the organization effectively to achieve outcomes, direct others and negotiate for desired results
Knowledge and skill in professional nursing theory and practice, including physiological principles involved in the care of acute and critical patients, principles of teaching and learning, research, and performance improvement
Requirements
Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory compliance standards
Minimum 3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting
Experience in Stroke Program Coordination: planning, implementing and evaluating outcomes
Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of California
Current basic life support (BLS) certification
Advanced National Certification preferred
