Description
Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, 12-month, exempt administrative Associate Dean of Advising, Wellness, and Career Services position in the Student Affairs department. The Associate Dean provides strategic leadership and oversight to Academic Advising, the Student Wellness Center, Career Services, and Student Success Coaching to develop institution-wide strategic goals around student success and retention. Utilizing a data-driven, solution-based approach and systems perspective, the Associate Dean leads with racial equity, focusing on best practices, innovation, creativity, positivity, careful listening, and accountability for self and team. Reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Associate Dean leads comprehensive, equity-centered program and services that advance student success and inclusive practices across the college. The Associate Dean oversees program operations, supervises staff, allocates the departmental budgets, and collaborates with faculty and staff across campus to develop and maintain coordinated, holistic approaches to supporting and improving students access, retention, and completion.

Position Responsibilities
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and practices into areas of responsibility, including through Universal Design and related initiatives that support the success of systemically non-dominant groups, with an emphasis on racial equity.
  • Provide strategic leadership and visioning for Academic Advising, Student Wellness Center, Career Services, and Student Success Coaching that align with Guided Pathways and holistic student support services.
  • Oversee overall operations for Academic Advising, Student Wellness Center, Career Services, and Student Success Coaching. Ensure alignment and collaborative student support that advances the Equity-Centered Strategic Plan and Guided Pathways.
  • Provide campus-wide leadership for student achievement, employment and career outcomes, and retention efforts that increase certificate and degree completion, including establishing and maintaining strong external partnership that improve transfer and employment opportunities for students.
  • Directly supervise Admin/Exempt, Faculty, and Classified staff, including serving as lead administrator for the Student Wellness Center multidisciplinary healthcare professional staff and faculty. Indirectly supervise full and part-time staff and student workers.
  • Lead one-third of the college's Title III Grant through 2028. Responsibilities include collaborating with grant staff and strengthening student success pathways, which includes the implementation of a student success software solution.
  • Collaborate with Instruction to develop, lead, and support ongoing faculty advising training and faculty counselor responsibility in accordance with the Clark College AHE faculty contract.
  • Oversee ongoing refinement of advising creating a case management model for advising by Area of Study and strategic student outreach that aligns with case management goals.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, ethical, and accessible counseling, medical, and wellness services.
  • Contribute to assessment strategies for areas of responsibility; Utilize data from assessment of outcomes in areas of responsibility to enhance and develop programs and services to meet student needs with the intent to increase retention, persistence, and completion based on the Equity-Centered Strategic Plan and Guided Pathways.
  • Engage in supportive and effective change management and engage stakeholders collaboratively in the process.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies and laws (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA, ADA, Title IX).
  • Responsible for staff hiring, training, evaluation, performance reviews, and completing required trainings as required by the college.
  • Serve as a voting member of the college's Curriculum Committee and Outcomes and Assessment Committee.
  • Serve on the Student Affairs Council as a leadership team member.
  • Serve on the statewide Advising and Counseling Council (ACC).
  • Serve on other college committees or assigned or approved by supervisor.
  • Oversee and manage the department budgets and ensure budget planning and management of resources align with the Equity-Centered Strategic Plan.
  • Conduct and participate in meetings and events in face-to-face and/or virtual settings.
  • Serve as a member of college committees, councils, or teams as assigned or approved by supervisor.
  • Serve in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, and Tenets established by the College.
  • Exercise effective stewardship over college resources.
  • Contribute to a safe, bias-free working environment, which engenders respect for differences.
  • Engage in and promote shared governance.
  • Directly supervise Admin/Exempt, Faculty, and Classified staff, including serving as lead administrator for the Student Wellness Center multidisciplinary healthcare professional staff and faculty. Indirectly supervise full and part-time staff and student workers. Responsibilities include hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating staff and faculty with applicable college, and state policies and procedures (Admin Exempt, Classified, Faculty, Part-Time, and Student Workers).

Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in education, business administration, public administration, counseling, higher education administration, or a related field AND three (3) years of related professional experience in higher education student services; OR a bachelor's degree AND five (5) years of related professional experience in higher education student services.
  • Working knowledge of academic advising, student development theory, career development, counseling, and high-impact practices within Student Affairs.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships across departments and effectively engage individuals from diverse academic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising, developing, and evaluating staff, with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, meet deadlines, and apply strong organizational and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal effectiveness, including strong communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills across diverse teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Proficiency in the use of student information systems, early alert or student success technologies, and standard office software.
  • Working knowledge and application of compliance and higher regulations and laws, such as Title IX, FERPA, HIPAA, Clery, etc.
