Job Title: Business Strategy and Development Associate (Healthcare Strategy Analyst)
Division: Medicine
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Location: Houston, TX
Salary Range: $70,618 - $85,000
FLSA Status: Exempt
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Summary
The Department of Medicine is actively seeking a dynamic and analytically driven individual to join our team as a Business Strategy and Development Associate. In this role, the Associate will play a key role in shaping the department's strategic direction and advancing initiatives that support both new and existing programs. Working closely with departmental leadership and key internal and external stakeholders, the Associate will contribute to the development, evaluation, and execution of strategic plans designed to drive sustainable revenue growth, enhance operational performance, and expand the department's clinical and academic footprint.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of strategic thinking, data analysis, and business acumen, and will be expected to identify growth opportunities, support business case development, and help translate strategic priorities into actionable initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure to academic medicine operations while directly influencing high-impact projects that support the department's long-term financial and programmatic success.
Graduates of healthcare administrative fellowship programs are encouraged to apply.
Job Duties
  • Collaborate with departmental leadership to contribute to the formulation and execution of strategic plans for research and clinical service lines with a focus on improving revenue growth and optimization.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders within the Department of Medicine and across Baylor College of Medicine, fostering collaboration and alignment with organizational goals and strategic plans.
  • Identify and assess growth opportunities, analyze market trends, and develop strategies to enhance the department's presence and impact within our research and clinical service lines.
  • Develop executive level summaries, business cases, proposals, presentations, and communications for distribution to key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Implement performance metrics and analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of strategic initiatives and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Lead pro forma development for new recruits and initiatives.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Healthcare, Business, or related field.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to gain the confidence of faculty, staff, leaders, colleagues, etc.
  • Ability to display a professional, positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills and communication skills required and must be able to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
  • Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, efficient, and strong organizational skills.
