Commercial Strategy Associate - NYC Growth

Posted 14 days ago

Job description

TheGuarantors is a fintech company helping multifamily owners and operators mitigate leasing risk while expanding access for renters. With a deep understanding of owner, operator, and renter needs, we believe renters deserve better access to the home of their choice and operators deserve greater protection and growth opportunities. That's why we're leveraging our real estate expertise and using AI-driven renter underwriting to help operators qualify renters faster while mitigating the financial risk of renter default. With $7B+ in lease value protected, we work with 9 of the country's top 10 operators, are the #1 lease guarantee provider nationwide, and have consistently been named one of Inc. 5000's fastest-growing companies, one of Forbes' Best Startup Employers, and one of Deloitte's Technology Fast 500.
The Team
The Commercial Strategy & Revenue Operations team exists to solve some of TheGuarantors' highest-priority commercial challenges. We identify opportunities to grow the business, develop strategies to capture them, and work across the organization to turn those strategies into measurable results.
Our work spans every part of the commercial organization. We partner closely with Sales, Product, Risk, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to improve how we serve customers, launch new initiatives, strengthen our go-to-market strategy, and build the capabilities that enable the business to scale. Because our work cuts across functions, success depends on building trusted partnerships, influencing without formal authority, and aligning teams around a common goal.
We aren't an internal consulting team. We own initiatives from strategy through execution and are accountable for the impact they create. The people who thrive here are comfortable with ambiguity, motivated by ownership, and excited to solve difficult business problems.
The Opportunity
As a Commercial Strategy Associate focused on NYC Growth, you'll help shape how TheGuarantors grows in its original and critical market. New York is one of the most dynamic and competitive rental markets in the country, and continuing to grow here requires constant innovation, thoughtful strategy, and exceptional execution.
You'll identify new opportunities for growth, develop the strategies to capture them, and work across the organization to bring those ideas to life.
This role is designed for someone who wants to move beyond analysis and become an operator. You'll own meaningful business initiatives from strategy through execution, partnering with leaders across the company to implement new ideas and measure their impact.
You'll work closely with senior leadership-including the CEO, COO, and CSO-but your success will ultimately be measured by the commercial outcomes you help create.
This is a hybrid role based in NYC.
What You'll Do
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to accelerate growth in TheGuarantors' original and most profitable market
  • Develop business cases and commercial strategies that inform high-impact decisions about how we grow in New York
  • Work closely with the CEO and Sales leadership to shape and execute the company's highest-priority NYC growth initiatives
  • Engage directly with customers, prospects, and users to understand market needs, identify opportunities, gather competitive intelligence, and translate insights into action
  • Spend time in the field, including at leasing offices across New York City, to understand our partners' pain points and specific needs, get insights into how our products and processes operate in practice and identify areas of opportunity
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives across Sales, Product, Risk, Pricing, Marketing, Finance, and Operations from strategy through implementation.
  • Measure the impact of commercial initiatives and refine our approach based on results

What You'll Bring
  • 2+ years of experience in management consulting, strategy, business operations, or another role requiring strong business judgment, analytical thinking, and a track record of execution
  • Proven track record of client interactions, including ability to work independently with various customer stakeholders to help them frame business-critical problems, gather supporting information, and define and present actionable solutions. Willingness to engage directly with customers and spend time in the field to develop a deep understanding of our market is key for success in the role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and creating structure where none exists
  • An ownership mindset and a track record of driving work from idea through execution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work

Benefits
  • Opportunities to make an impact within a fast growing company
  • Medical, dental, & vision insurance, beginning day one
  • Health savings account with employer contribution
  • Flexible spending accounts (healthcare, dependent care, commuter)
  • 401(k)
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays
  • In-office lunch Perk
  • Flexible working hours
  • Paid parental leave
  • Company sponsored short and long term disability

Base Salary
The base salary range is between $130,000 - $150,000 annually.
Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, location and current market data and may vary from the range above.
TheGuarantors is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to an inclusive environment for all.
