BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE III
The Business Intelligence Analyst III plays a strategic, senior-level role in shaping and advancing enterprise analytics across McGough. This position focuses on shaping analytical vision, influencing cross-domain data strategy, and ensuring analytics solutions are scalable, governed, and aligned to long-term business outcomes. This role brings deep design/construction/project management domain expertise, ensuring analytics reflect real-world project execution across cost, schedule, and productivity with minimal translation from business stakeholders.
This role partners closely with senior business leaders, Data Governance, Program Managers, Data Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders to define analytical direction, resolve complex tradeoffs, and establish durable, enterprise-grade Tableau and data solutions. The Business Intelligence Analyst III is responsible not only for delivering analytics solutions, but for ensuring they align with domain objectives, data standards, and enterprise architecture. This individual is expected to engage confidently with construction leadership, translating complex operational concepts directly into analytics without relying on foundational domain onboarding. Reporting to the Analytics Manager, this role operates as a senior individual contributor. The emphasis is on ownership at scale, strategic influence, and elevating the overall maturity of analytics across the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a data, analytics, or technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience delivering business intelligence or analytics solutions.
  • Expert-level experience building and optimizing dashboards in Tableau at scale.
  • 5+ years in design/engineering/construction or project-based environments, with demonstrated understanding of job cost structures, scheduling logic, procurement and project performance drivers
  • Advanced SQL proficiency with experience querying enterprise data warehouses (Snowflake, AWS, Azure, BigQuery, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, complex, and cross-functional analytical initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, and executive communication skills.

Preferred:
  • Experience in construction or project-based operational environments.
  • Experience influencing data architecture, data modeling, and enterprise data strategy.
  • Strong experience with data governance frameworks and lifecycle management.
  • Experience using Python for advanced analytics, automation, or data engineering collaboration.
  • Experience formally mentoring or leading analysts and shaping team best practices.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analytics Strategy and Leadership
  • Define and drive the strategic direction of analytics across business domains.
  • Lead the design of enterprise-level Tableau and reporting solutions.
  • Own and guide high-impact, cross-functional analytics initiatives end-to-end.
  • Partner with Analytics Program Management to establish scalable patterns and frameworks for analytics delivery.

Advanced Data Analysis & Architecture Alignment
  • Lead complex data analysis efforts spanning multiple systems and domains.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to influence data models, structures, and accessibility.
  • Identify systemic data challenges and drive long-term solutions.
  • Ensure consistency and reusability of analytical logic across the enterprise.
  • Challenge assumptions and improve how project performance is measured based on prior construction experience

Executive Partnership & Influence
  • Partner with construction leadership to define and align KPIs across cost, schedule, productivity, and project performance, bringing informed domain perspective to shape the conversation
  • Translate ambiguous, strategic questions into measurable frameworks and solutions.
  • Communicate insights, risks, and tradeoffs to executive audiences.
  • Influence decision-making through clear, data-driven storytelling.

Governance & Operational Excellence
  • Set the standard for dashboard design, naming conventions, and modeling practices.
  • Establish best practices that improve scalability, quality, and maintainability.
  • Reinforce analytics standards, governance practices, and documentation expectations.
  • Partner with Data Governance to define and evolve analytics standards, governance practices, and design principles.

Mentorship & Team Development
  • Mentor and coach Business Intelligence Analysts (Levels I and II).
  • Elevate team capabilities through guidance, feedback, and knowledge sharing.
  • Lead by example in quality, rigor, and analytical thinking.
  • Identify gaps in team processes and drive continuous improvement.

OFFICE AND TRAVEL:
  • Position will be based in McGough's Raleigh, NC Office.
  • McGough supports a hybrid work schedule, with exact days and times defined by manager and team.
  • Travel is expected to be approximately 15% consisting of quarterly trips to McGough's headquarters for various training or team building activities. Additional travel to various national office locations may be required as determined by the individual and their manager.
