Salary Range
  • 2+ years of experience: $81,500-$105,000
  • 3+ years of experience: $92,000-$115,000

These ranges reflect what BNSF Railway reasonably expects to pay for this position, based on the level of the role, scope, and responsibilities. Final compensation and position level will be determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to base pay and bonus eligibility, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.
The BNSF Railway Finance Department provides innovative strategic solutions and world-class financial services to support BNSF's overall performance. The department is committed to maintaining integrity and recognizing the company's successes, ensuring that BNSF remains a leader in the railway industry. Within the Finance Department, several specialized departments contribute to its overall mission: Controller, Revenue Management, Strategic Sourcing, Tax, Treasury, and Strategic Studies. Each department is vital in managing BNSF's financial health and strategic financial planning. These departments work collaboratively to secure BNSF's economic stability and support its growth and innovation within the railway industry.
This is a full-time position located in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.
Travel is minimal, less than 10%.
Key responsibilities may include:
Work individually or in teams performing financial and operational analysis on a wide range of complex, high profile projects to determine impact on cost, profitability, operating performance, customer service and/or capital commitments.
Typical projects include the analysis of capital investment, changes in business processes, labor agreement modifications, equipment acquisition, equipment utilization, line expansion, terminal/line operations, and/or commercial contract negotiations. Analyses require the evaluation of several alternatives and their associated risks in an unbiased, objective fashion in order to provide a quantitative basis for better decision making.
Function as a project leader on cross-departmental teams addressing major strategic issues.
Successfully incorporate complex rule interpretations from the Law Department, Labor Relations, Accounting, Tax and other groups into project evaluations.
Independently prioritize multiple projects in a highly dynamic environment and manage projects through to completion.
Educate and work with team members in problem solving techniques, computer applications (TSS, SQL, Excel, etc.), statistical analysis, economic analysis (discounted cash flow) and railway operations.
Make presentations and communicate project results to all levels of management.
Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.
Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Able to work now and in the future without BNSF's assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
  • Bachelor's degree or higher Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Business or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial / operations analysis with relevant industry / BNSF specific experience or other relevant work experience considered.
  • Strong: critical thinking ability, analytical problem solving ability, project management skills, time management skills, financial analysis skills (particularly NPV/IRR analysis), and Excel modeling skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to: present financial analyses to all levels of management, explain technical issues to non-technical audiences, work with business process experts to understand key decision drivers, and train team members in best practices.
  • Familiarity with BNSF corporate data sources: Data Warehouse, Corporate Dashboard, TSS, etc.
