Job description

Sr Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Associate

Work Model: Remote Work Location Requirement: Candidates must be based in DMV / WV (DC, MD, VA, WV) Type: Contract-to-Hire (approx. 12 months) Pay (W2): $51/HR

Overview

We’re looking for a senior-level sourcing/procurement professional who can independently run end-to-end strategic sourcing events—from intake through award and contract execution—for professional services and/or IT categories in a complex, regulated environment. This is a highly stakeholder-facing role that requires confidence operating when requirements are still forming, strong contract redlining/negotiation skills, and comfort partnering closely with Legal and Risk.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Lead full lifecycle sourcing events: intake, strategy, RFx (RFI/RFP/RFQ), evaluation/scoring, negotiation, award and contracting.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and procurement leadership to shape sourcing approach and category strategy.
  • Translate incomplete or evolving needs into clear requirements, evaluation criteria, and sourcing documentation.
  • Serve as the primary supplier contact through RFx, selection, and negotiation.
  • Support and/or lead commercial negotiations (pricing, terms, value, risk) and drive events to completion.
  • Draft and manage sourcing documentation so it is complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
  • Coordinate contract development including redlining and alignment to business, technical, and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Legal, Risk, and internal stakeholders to surface, escalate, and resolve issues quickly.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate purchasing policies and applicable regulations (including requirements tied to government/program obligations and reporting).
  • Maintain sourcing/contract documentation in SAP Ariba (source-to-pay).
  • Support supplier/contract lifecycle needs: renewals, amendments, milestone tracking, discrepancy resolution.

Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience).
  • 6–8+ years of strategic sourcing experience, ideally supporting IT and/or professional services.
  • Demonstrated ability to run end-to-end sourcing (not just PO processing or vendor onboarding).
  • Strong experience with RFx development, supplier evaluation/scoring, and negotiations.
  • Strong contract exposure (drafting support, redlining, working through legal/risk reviews).
  • Ability to perform pricing/commercial analysis and support price reasonableness assessments.
  • Hands-on SAP Ariba experience.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and follow-through in fast-paced environments.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in health insurance or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with government-related procurement concepts (e.g., FAR or similar frameworks).
