We are seeking an experienced Equipment Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and direction of all company equipment operations. This role is responsible for ensuring effective maintenance and repair programs, equipment safety, and optimal utilization across job sites. The Equipment Manager also serves as a technical advisor to leadership, supporting equipment budgeting and strategic purchasing decisions.
Essential Functions
  • Supervise yard personnel and shop mechanics
  • Oversee equipment utilization to ensure maximum return on investment
  • Manage the purchase, lease, resale, auction, and retirement of equipment
  • Track equipment lifecycle from acquisition through disposal and determine repair vs. replacement
  • Assign equipment to projects based on schedules and operational needs
  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs
  • Coordinate repairs with internal mechanics and external service vendors
  • Track downtime, performance trends, and maintenance costs
  • Ensure equipment meets manufacturer specifications and warranty requirements
  • Manage company vehicle fleet, including coordination of assignments with division leadership
  • Purchase tools and supplies needed for equipment and field crews
  • Issue purchase orders in accordance with company policy and accounting procedures
  • Monitor and manage equipment utilization, including GPS tracking systems
  • Ensure CARB and DOT compliance
  • Perform regular inspections to meet safety standards
  • Coordinate operator training for new equipment as needed
  • Oversee DMV registrations and insurance updates
  • Travel to job sites and office locations as required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
