Sr. Manager, Field Engineering โ€“ Strat Media

Title: Sr. Manager โ€“ Strat Media. While candidates in the listed location(s) are encouraged for this role, candidates in other locations will be considered. The Databricks Field Engineering team activates and accelerates the value our customers get from their data and AI. Major media agencies, ad tech, and Data/Identity companies are leveraging the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform to accelerate their dataโ€‘driven strategies. Our team is hiring a dynamic Solution Architecture (SA) leader who intimately understands the agencies ecosystem and the importance of modern data architecture for advancing their Data & AI initiatives. In this role you will lead a team of Solution Architects within Databricksโ€™ Field Engineering teamโ€™s Agency segment, report to the Director of Field Engineering, and partner with Sales and other technical segments to increase revenue and help customers become wildly successful. You will scale and maintain an outstanding Field Engineering team that operates efficiently to accelerate Databricksโ€™ market growth.

The agencies vertical sits at the intersection of data, AI, and advertising. You will lead a team that works with some of the most dataโ€‘intensive companies in the world, holding companies managing billions in media spend and influencing the broader buy and sell side ecosystem.

The Impact You Will Have
  • Hire, train, grow, and manage a team of Solutions Architects in highโ€‘growth mode.
  • Make customers in the agencies segment successful with Databricks and provide outsized value to their businesses.
  • Maintain a robust hiring pipeline at all times.
  • Establish relationships across the business to make customers and team successful.
  • Partner with sales leadership to hit sales and consumption targets and ensure customer success.
  • Keep your team of SAs ahead of the technical curve, continuously learning and providing comprehensive solutions for customers.
What We Look For
  • 7+ years of professional experience in the data space with a technical product (e.g., data warehousing, big data, or machine learning).
  • 3+ years of firstโ€‘line management experience leading technical preโ€‘sales or solutions architecture teams, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Deep understanding of the advertising and media agency ecosystem, including how holdcos are structured and how data flows between brands, agencies, publishers, and ad tech platforms.
  • 3+ years of experience building and leading technical preโ€‘sales teams, hiring, onboarding, and enabling preโ€‘ and postโ€‘sales professionals.
  • Technical understanding of the impact that Data & AI can drive within the Media and Entertainment industry, focused on the Media Agency Ecosystem.
  • Trusted advisor to technical executives who guide strategic data infrastructure decisions.
  • Lead a team through best practices for technical qualification, proof of concepts, architecture discussions, and product demonstrations.
  • Experience hiring candidates, ramping them up, and promoting them into larger roles.
  • Build team morale and foster working relationships with Field Engineering, Sales, and other internal partners.
  • Experience working with teams across Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Success.
  • Must be technical enough to earn the trust of Engineering talent and leadership at Databricks.
  • Demonstrated architectural influenceโ€”able to influence and review complex architectures, guiding your team and customers toward ideal solutions that scale.
Pay Range Transparency

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role represent the expected base salary range for nonโ€‘commissionable roles or onโ€‘target earnings for commissionable roles. The total compensation package may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed below.

Zone 1 Pay Range: $192,100 โ€“ $264,175 USD

Zone 2 Pay Range: $192,100 โ€“ $264,100 USD

Zone 3 Pay Range: $192,100 โ€“ $264,100 USD
