Job description

Reporting to the Commercial Retail Director of Hermes Canada Inc, the Montreal Store Director is responsible for the overall management and performance of our boutique in Montreal. This responsibility includes sales, customer service, client development, human resources, operations, merchandising and buying. The Store Director is accountable for the achievement of business objectives, customer satisfaction, operating, inventory and merchandising excellence, employee development and compliance with internal and external policies. 

Scope of Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

  • Drive sales to meet/exceed sales budgets, establish and execute plans to ensure achievement of goals

  • Lead by example on the sales floor, fostering a culture of high-level service, clienteling, and brand ambassadorship in all areas of the store including After Sales Service.
  • Coach, train, and motivate the team to ensure product expertise and exceptional customer service, including after-sales support. 

  • Conduct/supervise monthly touch base sales associate coaching process

  • Identify opportunities and assist sales associates in strengthening client relationships

  • Oversee management team and ensure that they are well informed, trained and aligned in approach

  • Understand key drivers and business levers and provide thoughtful and timely analyses to drive results 

  • Ensure employees are provided with regular product knowledge to enhance and ensure cross-selling across categories 

  • Act as an Hermes ambassador to develop community connections and expand the client base, while building loyalty and exceeding customer expectations.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Drive talent management, with the support of Human Resources, by recruiting and onboarding qualified employees, while fostering retention through the development of individual growth potential and career mapping

  • Enhance customer service excellence by regularly auditing, coaching, and setting performance goals for employees, identifying development needs, and implementing targeted training with follow-up to ensure skill application

  • Provide regular feedback, both formal and informal, to all store employees

  • Drive results by fostering a positive, informed, and motivating store environment, using proactive communication and expert people management to engage the team with Hermes' company goals 

Operations

  • Manage inventory for qualitative and quantitative success respecting company guidelines

  • Ensure compliance with all operating policies and procedures

  • Provide monthly qualitative and quantitative business reports with thoughtful analyses and recommendations

  • Analyze business and prepare accordingly for purchasing within the subsidiary buying guidelines and strategy

  • Ensure accurate completion of designated department and cycle counts 

  • Lead preparation and execution of semi-annual inventory counts

  • Maintain security of store assets and safety of employees and customers

Merchandising

  • Maintain pristine, organized front/back-of-house areas

  • Ensure store presentation reflects inventory ownership and the most current merchandising direction provided by the metiers

  • Manage optimal inventory and model stock levels in coordination with the Head Office

Other

  • Proactively and regularly communicate store business activities with the Commercial Retail Director as well as the Managing Director

  • Effectively partner with all departments within Canada and Paris to ensure the boutique is well supported in achieving its goals

  • Embrace and support all company initiatives, contests, programs, etc.

  • Address issues affecting the boutique in a timely and thoughtful manner, delegating and following up as necessary

  • Other projects as determined

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years prior Store Management experience
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Demonstrated experience running a high-volume store 
  • Proven progressive management experience in managing, coaching, motivating and developing employees, teams and managers with integrity and discretion. You are an enthusiastic and accessible role model.
  • Strong understanding of the local area retail market

  • Realiser/superviser le processus mensuel de coaching des conseillers(eres) de vente et assurer un encadrement efficace pour des resultats optimaux.
  • Identifier des opportunites et soutenir les conseillers(eres) dans le renforcement des relations avec la clientele.
  • Superviser l'equipe de gestion et s'assurer qu'elle est bien informee, formee et alignee dans son approche.
  • Comprendre les principaux leviers d'affaires et fournir des analyses pertinentes et opportunes pour optimiser les resultats.
  • Veiller a ce que les employes beneficient d'une formation continue sur les produits afin de favoriser les ventes croisees entre categories.

  • S'assurer que la presentation visuelle en magasin reflete la propriete des stocks et les directives de marchandisage les plus recentes etablis par les metiers.
  • Gerer des niveaux optimaux de stocks et de modeles en coordination avec le siege social.

  • Communiquer de facon proactive et reguliere les activites commerciales du magasin au Directeur Commercial Retail et au Directeur General.
