Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of facilities across multiple MRO sites, ensuring safe, compliant, efficient, and cost-effective support of aircraft maintenance operations. This role provides leadership to facilities teams, manages vendor and contractor relationships, and establishes standardized facilities processes, maintenance programs, and asset management practices across all assigned locations.
The position plays a critical role in supporting MRO operations by ensuring facilities, hangars, utilities, ground support systems, and infrastructure comply with FAA, airport authority, OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory requirements, while also supporting operational uptime and long-term capital planning.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Multi-Site Facilities Leadership
• Provide overall facilities management leadership for multiple MRO locations, ensuring consistent standards, policies, and practices across sites.
• Establish and maintain standardized facilities procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and asset lifecycle strategies across all assigned facilities.
• Serve as the primary facilities liaison for internal MRO leadership, airport authorities, regulatory agencies, and external vendors.
Facilities Operations & Maintenance
• Oversee building, hangar, ramp, and grounds maintenance activities, including utilities, fire protection systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and specialty MRO infrastructure.
• Develop, manage, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure operational continuity and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct routine facilities inspections, system evaluations, and quality audits to identify risks, deficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
• Ensure compliance with FAA, airport authority requirements, OSHA, EPA, ADA, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
• Act as a company representative and airport liaison regarding tenant requirements, security rules, and regulatory inspections.
• Support environmental compliance relating to hazardous materials storage, handling, and disposal within MRO facilities.
Project & Capital Management
• Review construction drawings and blueprints for code compliance, workplace safety, and operational suitability.
• Manage facilities-related projects, including renovations, expansions, and major system upgrades, with minimal impact to MRO operations.
• Assist in the development of long-range facilities and equipment replacement plans.
• Participate in annual budgeting, capital planning, and expense control for facilities operations.
Vendor & Contract Management
• Manage service providers, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring performance, compliance, and cost effectiveness.
• Review and analyze facilities contracts, insurance requirements, and service agreements; provide recommendations to management.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with contractual and insurance requirements.
People Management & Leadership
• Lead, coach, and develop facilities staff across assigned sites, including performance management, training, and workforce planning.
• Promote a safe, engaged, and productive work environment aligned with company values and MRO operational priorities.
• Communicate objectives, policies, and procedures clearly to employees and ensure alignment across all locations.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience:
• 2-4 years of people management experience.
• Facilities management experience in an industrial, aviation, MRO, or similarly regulated environment.
• Prior experience supporting construction projects and facility upgrades.
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets, operating expenses, and multi-site projects.
• Working knowledge of building systems, infrastructure maintenance, and regulatory compliance in aviation or industrial settings
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of facilities systems, maintenance practices, and asset management.
• Familiarity with FAA, airport, OSHA, ADA, and environmental regulations applicable to MRO facilities.
• Strong vendor management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other tools to track projects, costs, and metrics.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across multiple sites.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
Working Conditions / Environment / Special Requirements
• Ability to perform duties in compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulations.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators, in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134.
• Periodic travel required to support multiple facilities locations
