Currently we have an exciting career opportunity for a Broker I within Aon Commercial Risk Solutions’ Financial Services Group (“FSG”).

This Broker role is responsible for developing and implementing strategic risk management solutions for large, global clients. This includes the design, marketing and service management of insurance programs in numerous industry sectors. This individual should have proven peer market relationships and emerging senior market relationships.

This opportunity is a hybrid role to work from our Chicago, IL office.

What the day will look like

  • Responsible for learning and assessing client needs, crafting solutions and negotiating with insurance carriers to acquire coverage that is in a client’s best interests. Coverages include: Directors and Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Crime, Fiduciary Liability, and Kidnap/Ransom.
  • Accountable for routine support activities to brokers and senior brokers with defined deadlines, related to renewal strategy documents, proposals, submissions along with data analysis for the placement of insurance solutions.
  • Manages daily work within established guidelines and receives general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
  • Assists with the processing of policy and related documents.
  • Learn and apply technical skills including client analysis / underwriting and insurance program diagnostic skills to continually improve client programs and build opportunity with prospective client programs.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all external client contacts, prospects (primarily in the department of treasury, legal departments, or risk management) and internal Aon broker colleagues, producers, and account executives.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of effective client and prospect presentations in conjunction with senior team members.
  • Learn and apply effective negotiation skills to improve broking results for clients.
  • Effectively use the Aon FSG claims administration function and engage the claims and legal advocacy group for claim administration and counsel as per established protocols and as advised by senior team member.
  • May facilitate and/or participate in client/broker strategy meetings.
  • Property & Casualty license required within 6 months of hire date.

In addition, and as a part of the support of the team:

  • Provide efficient and effective support to senior FSG team members, internal Aon colleagues.
  • Always provide timely responses to clients and team members.
  • Effectively connect with other technical or other senior team members and administrative staff to ensure proper prioritization of workflow.

 

How this opportunity is different

The broker will be instrumental in the analysis of client’s exposures to identify and mitigate risk as well as responsible for the coordination of the placement and day-to-day activities on accounts.

 

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 1+ years in brokering, underwriting, and / or other relevant executive liability proven experience.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Strong experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent years of industry experience.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $77,100 - $102,900 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.  The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.
The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Illinois.  The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary.  The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
