What are Independent Contractor Stock Brokers?

Independent Contractor Stock Brokers are licensed professionals who buy and sell stocks and other securities on behalf of clients, but they work for themselves rather than as employees of a brokerage firm. They typically enter into agreements with established brokerages to access trading platforms and resources, yet maintain autonomy over their business operations, clients, and schedules. These brokers earn income through commissions and fees and are responsible for managing their own taxes, benefits, and regulatory compliance.

What are the common challenges faced by independent contractor stock brokers compared to those employed by firms?

Independent contractor stock brokers often face the challenge of building and maintaining their own client base without the support of an established firm. They are responsible for managing their own business operations, compliance requirements, and continuing education, which can be time-consuming. Additionally, they may encounter income fluctuations, especially in the early stages, as they work on commission and are not provided a fixed salary or benefits. However, this autonomy also allows for more flexibility and the potential for higher earnings based on performance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Independent Contractor Stock Broker, and why are they important?

To succeed as an Independent Contractor Stock Broker, you need strong analytical abilities, a deep understanding of financial markets, and typically must hold a bachelor's degree in finance or a related field along with FINRA Series 7 and 63/66 licenses. Expertise in trading platforms, portfolio management software, and compliance systems is crucial for daily operations and regulatory adherence. Exceptional interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and effective communication set top performers apart in building and retaining client relationships. These competencies are essential to ensure informed investment decisions, regulatory compliance, and sustained client trust in a competitive financial environment.

The Opportunity

Weโ€™re looking for ambitious, entrepreneurial professionals to join Surf On Demand as

Independent Cargo Charter Brokers.

This is a commission-only, 1099 independent contractor position โ€” ideal for experienced cargo brokers, freight forwarders, logistics professionals, or driven entrepreneurs ready to leverage our global brand, SurfOS software platform, and 24/7 operational support to build and scale their own cargo charter business.

As an Independent Cargo Charter Broker, youโ€™ll have full control over your client relationships, schedule, and business development strategy โ€” while benefiting from the infrastructure and credibility of a publicly traded aviation company.

What Youโ€™ll Do

โ— Develop and manage a portfolio of cargo clients including freight forwarders, logistics providers, manufacturers, and time-critical shippers.

โ— Source, structure, and close domestic and international cargo charter opportunities (ad hoc and program-based).

โ— Coordinate air freight solutions including oversized cargo, dangerous goods (DG), AOG (Aircraft on Ground), and time-critical shipments.

โ— Provide consultative logistics solutions tailored to client timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements.

โ— Utilize Surf On Demandโ€™s SurfOS platform for quoting, trip coordination, and CRM tracking.

โ— Collaborate with our 24/7 operations team to ensure seamless execution from pickup through delivery.

โ— Build and maintain relationships with carriers, operators, and logistics partners globally.

โ— Represent Surf On Demand and Surf Air brands professionally in client interactions, industry events, and partner engagements.

What Youโ€™ll Get

โ— Uncapped Commission Potential: Industry-leading payouts with no earning limits.

โ— Autonomy & Flexibility: Operate independently, manage your own schedule, and work from anywhere.

โ— Inbound Lead Option: Access qualified inbound cargo opportunities in exchange for a reduced commission split.

โ— 24/7 Global Operations Support: Expert team handling flight following, permits, handling, and logistics coordination.

โ— Extensive Carrier Network: Access to a global network of vetted cargo operators with competitive wholesale pricing.

โ— Full Back-Office Infrastructure: Contracts, invoicing, compliance, and financial settlements managed for you.

โ— SurfOS Technology Platform: Proprietary system for real-time quoting, workflow management, and client tracking.

โ— Global Brand Credibility: Partner with Surf Air Mobility (NYSE: SRFM), a recognized name in aviation and mobility.

Who You Are

โ— Experienced in air cargo charter, freight forwarding, logistics, or high-value B2B sales.

โ— Existing book of business or strong industry network preferred (freight forwarders, 3PLs, shippers).

โ— Knowledge of cargo aircraft types, payload capabilities, and routing/logistics considerations.

โ— Familiarity with aviation and cargo platforms such as Avinode, CargoWise, or similar tools is a plus.

โ— Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and client relationship management skills.

โ— Entrepreneurial, self-driven, and comfortable operating in a commission-only environment.

โ— Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.

Why Partner with Surf On Demand

โ— Global reach, local freedom: Build your own cargo brokerage under a publicly traded brand.

โ— Unlimited earning potential: Scale your income directly with your performance.

โ— Robust support infrastructure: 24/7 ops, finance, and technology designed to help you succeed.

โ— Industry connectivity: Collaborate with a network of experienced brokers and logistics professionals.
