Job description

Position Summary

As a Sterile Processing Technician for STERIS,you'llwork behind the scenes of healthcare facilities in afast-paced environment,impactingpatient safety without being patient facing.Working in the Sterile Processing Department, you will support surgical procedures by ensuring medical instruments are clean, sterile, organized, and available for the surgical team.You will use your skills and knowledge to perform scheduled and unscheduled tasksindependently and in compliance with the Department of Health, TJC, DNV, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, and AORN standards.

This is an onsite role based in Durham, NC, supporting afternoon shift, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm Monday through Friday.

What you'll do as a Sterile Processing Technician III:
    • Reprocess surgical trays post-surgery; ensuring they are decontaminated, cleaned, inspected, sterilized, correctly assembled withina timelymanner and ready for the next case.

    • Operates all mechanical machinery within the department such as, but not limited to, cart washers, instrument washers, steam sterilizers, lowtempsterilizers, ultrasonic and drying cabinets within sterile processing.

    • Usesthe implemented Track & Trace systemestablishedwithin the sterile processing department for all tasks and products processed.

    • Able to perform assembly on advanced instrument and vendor trays aligned with IP quality and production standards.

    • Participate in regular on-site training

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed:
  • Required:

    • High School diploma or GED

    • 2+ years of SPD experience withdemonstratedproficiencyin all SPD Technician responsibilities, includinga solidproficiencyand ability to work independently with all tray sets.

    • CRCST/ CSPDT, CST or CER/CFER,CST certification isrequired. Must also obtain CIS/CSIS, CHL/CSPM or STERIS Assessment certification within 12 months of hire.

    • Mustmaintaincertification by completing 12 Continuing Education Credit Hours annually

    Preferred:

    • Completion of a Sterile Processing or Surgical Technologist program

Pay range for this opportunity is $23.09 - $29.88.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
