Job description

While working safely, the electrical specialist installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems, apparatuses, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment by following electrical codes, manuals, safety, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications. Incumbent will install power supply, control wiring, and conduit for newly installed equipment. Will diagnose malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, solenoids, HMI, relays, lighting, electro-mechanical systems, electro-pneumatic systems, electro-hydraulic systems, and HVAC systems such as programmable logic controllers and distributive control systems along with input/output devices and sensors used by these systems. Will interact with other maintenance department personnel, engineers, machine operators and equipment vendors to evaluate troubleshooting methods, equipment history, possible replacement equipment and timetables when completing a given job. Incumbent will use electrical diagnostic equipment, such as volt-meters, amp meters, oscilloscopes and all shop equipment and tools. The electrical specialist will perform other related duties as determined by the plant engineer and/or plant manager.

  • Associates degree or equivalent in industrial electronics or other electrical applications
  • Five years work experience as a maintenance electrician or electronics technician
  • Must have limited electrical license in the state of North Carolina
  • Experience with PLC drive systems, electrical installations and applicable computer knowledge
  • Must have experience with motor starters, variable frequency drives and soft start motor drives
  • Must have experience in textile industry or closely-related industry
