Job description

Position Summary:

The Steakhouse Host Person is responsible for prompt, friendly greeting, and proper seating of all Guests of the restaurant and ensuring the smooth operation of the front of the restaurant. Responsibilities must be performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures.


Essential Functions:

1.ย ย  ย Practice, support, and promote Thunder Valley Casino Resortโ€™s โ€œWinning Attitudeโ€ company-wide culture and demonstrate AAA Four Diamond service standards at all times.

2.ย ย  ย Completes all opening and side work duties of the Host Person at the start of the shift, in a timely manner.

3.ย ย  ย Obtain staffing and station assignments for all servers and completes table/station chart with these assignments.

4.ย ย  ย Assist Steakhouse management in planning reservations and assigning parties to appropriate tables, stations and/or servers.

5.ย ย  ย Immediately recognize and greet arriving Guests verbally. Obtain Guestsโ€™ names and verify reservations.

6.ย ย  ย Escort Guests to their assigned table, pull out chairs for Guests to be seated, and hand menus to Guests.

7.ย ย  ย Accurately quote waiting times to Guests and maintain a waiting list. Informs management when waiting times are running over quoted times.

8.ย ย  ย Controls the flow of business by practicing rotation seating, anticipating table turns, and following the reservation and seating plan.

9.ย ย  ย Communicate to management any and all situations where a Guest may express concern or dissatisfaction with any aspect of the dining experience

10.ย ย  ย Acknowledge all departing Guests and invite them to return.

11.ย ย  ย Answer the telephone in a timely, pleasant, and courteous manner.

12.ย ย  ย Take, confirm, and document reservations accurately utilizing the restaurantโ€™s reservation system. Reconfirm reservations with Guests directly.

13.ย ย  ย Support other Front-of-House positions as needed to ensure a seamless dining experience for all Guests.

14.ย ย  ย Bus and reset tables with appropriate utensils as needed.ย 

15.ย ย  ย Notify other Team Members when management has closed down stations.

16.ย ย  ย Maintains cleanliness and organization of the host stand and lobby area throughout the shift.

17.ย ย  ย Ensure that all health and safety procedures are followed and adhered to at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

1.ย ย  ย High school diploma or equivalent education preferred.

2.ย ย  ย Previous restaurant or customer service experience preferred. Previous experience with Open Table strongly preferred.

3.ย ย  ย Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and management in both written and verbal form.

4.ย ย  ย Must possess outstanding Guest service skills as well as professional and sophisticated communication skills including active listening skills.

5.ย ย  ย Ability to interact with touch screen technology and utilize computerized reservation system.ย 

6.ย ย  ย Ability to exhibit a consistent level of professionalism in all Guest interactions.

7.ย ย  ย Must be at least 18 years of age.

8.ย ย  ย Must be able to obtain UAIC Tribal Gaming License.


Physical Requirements:

1.ย ย  ย Requires normal, corrective vision range with the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.

2.ย ย  ย Ability to stand and walk for prolonged time periods.

3.ย ย  ย Requires bending and reaching for supplies and equipment.

4.ย ย  ย Ability to lift, handle, and carry up to 25 lbs.

5.ย ย  ย Manual dexterity to use job related equipment.
