Job Summary:

The Arizona Secretary of Stateโ€™s Office Initiative Internship Program provides students who are interested in public service the opportunity to spend 5 weeks (June 29, 2026, to July 31, 2026) working with the Elections Division. including weekends, the 4th of July holiday and overtime

The Elections Division is looking for students who want to learn about election administration and support the initiative review process leading up to the 2026 election.

As a summer intern with the Elections Division, interns will observe how state government functions and attend trainings related to election

administration. Interns will learn how to research state statutes and the requirements of Arizonaโ€™s initiative process. Interns will contribute to the

team by reviewing initiative petition sheets and complying with statutory requirements.

Students or recent graduates interested in public service and witnessing democracy in action are encouraged to apply.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

โ€ข Knowledge of basic office professionalism

โ€ข Basic knowledge of policy, government, public administration, or law

โ€ข Skill in active listening

โ€ข Skill in critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to approach problems

โ€ข Skill in working effectively with a team

โ€ข Skill in basic computer navigation

โ€ข Ability to be extremely detail-oriented

Pre-Employment Requirements:

โ€ข Must be enrolled at, or a graduate of, a university, community college, or technical school. Graduating high school seniors and high school juniors may also apply. (Proof of enrollment or degree will be required upon hire.) requirement is preferred

โ€ข Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75

โ€ข Must be able to participate full-time from June 29, 2026, to July 31, 2026, including weekends, the 4th of July holiday and overtime. No part-time positions available.

โ€ข Must be at least 16 years old
