ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must know, understand and identify SDS
  • Must adhere to Safety Policy/Procedures and use of PPE (personal protective equipment) and use a back brace
  • Schedule 75% of shift to labor
  • Provides custodial service/help and supervise special events
  • Assists in the training of new custodial employees in routine cleaning duties
  • Assist in the training of custodial employees in the proper use of custodial supplies and equipment.
  • Supervises in the stowing of equipment and supplies
  • Make requests for supplies and equipment repairs needed
  • Perform routine inspections inner outer facility, maintenance on machines, vacuums, buffers, polishers and other custodial equipment as required
  • Snow and ice removal from sidewalks, parking lots, emergency exits, etc
  • Keep accurate data on staff members work performance; submit documentation/ 90- days or yearly evaluations in a timely manner
  • Directs the daily opening/closing preparations of the building and grounds
  • Provides leadership, inspect facilities, assign work orders, post staff schedule changes and monitor labor hours
  • Must work overtime with regard to work load and/or events
  • Requires extensive walking, standing, reaching, lifting and bending
  • Plunge toilets
  • Perform other related duties assigned by the Manager

OTHER DUTIES (SUPERVISORY):

  • Communicate with the designated building representative
  • Conduct written inspections of work performed at the time of shift
  • Walk areas of responsibility, being especially attentive of:
  • Employees progress
  • Equipment state of repair and cleanliness
  • Suggestions on efficiency and product use
  • Employee morale
  • Floor and utility projects
  • Thoroughness of cleaning
  • Take care of any problem areas or special requests
  • Take care of any attendance or disciplinary problems
  • Review work orders, project sheets and develop assignments for the following day, being sure the proper supplies and equipment are available
  • Review supply and equipment requisitions and order as required
  • Review areas of responsibilities after employees have finished

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of custodial experience required, plus 1 year of supervisory duties
  • Knowledge of โ€œPrinciples and Practices of Effective Supervisionโ€ including performance evaluation, progressive corrective action, equal opportunities, responsibilities and training; ability to plan, organize, lead, control, motivate staff, prioritize work and able to delegate work to subordinates.
  • Must be able to handle all types of tools, equipment and supplies used in custodial maintenance and follow instructions written and/or verbally. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills and be able to convey instructions clearly.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Drivers License required


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to lift 75 lbs. weight, one end of an 8ft. table, climb work from a 12ft. ladder and work with typical janitor cleansers, chemicals and supplies. Requires extensive walking, standing, reaching, lifting and bending. Must be able to work outside in inclement weather. Ability to work in loud, crowded areas.
