Description
It is the policy of St. Louis County based on its needs of service and budget permitting, to rehire retirees to work intermittently at the discretion of the Appointing Authority on an hourly basis not to exceed 1040 hours in a calendar year.
Applicants need only list their last County job prior to retirement and any additional jobs held after retirement from St. Louis County. To be eligible for intermittent employment, applicants must be receiving retirement benefits from St. Louis County. Applicants may be hired into their former job class or another job class for which they are qualified.
Intermittent employees may not work more than 1040 hours in a calendar year. Pay will be within the pay range of their job class. Intermittent employees are only paid for hours actually worked.
Additional Information
Retirees must apply for employment as an intermittent employee. These positions serve at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority and no permanent status is given. No intermittent appointment can be made if an existing layoff list is established the laid off employees are willing to perform the part-time or temporary duties.
Intermittent employees are paid only for the hours actually worked. St. Louis County will pay the employer's portion of FICA, and will provide Workers' Compensation coverage as required by law and Unemployment Insurance as required by law.
