Job description

SSM Health-SLUCare is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a PRN/Fill-In role to support our growing service line. SLUCare represents the academic medical practice of Saint Louis University, known for leading-edge care and groundbreaking research.  This position will involve first assisting in the O.R., including endoscopic vein harvesting, as well as clinic.  A competitive hourly rate will be offered based on experience as well as malpractice coverage but no other benefits.

Qualifications:

  • Seeking candidates in the local St. Louis area or within driving distance
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience as an APP in Cardiac Surgery including Surgical First Assisting and competency in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)
  • Seeking Nurse Practitioner with RNFA certification or Certified Physician Assistant 

The Opportunity: 

  • The successful candidate must be competent in the O.R. First Assist role, EVH, ECMO cannulation/de-cannulation
  • Responsible for comprehensive patient consultation and documentation, including ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic testing, and performing bedside procedures such as chest tube placement and removal and central/arterial line placement
  • Perform patient evaluation and management including appropriate documentation in clinic
  • Seeking effective communication, leadership and adaptability, attention to detail, time management, and a continuous learner
