Senior Product Development Engineer

The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As a Senior Product Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
  • Leads product development of new PSA technologies, including technical leadership of Class 4/5 product development deliverables as well as Class 3 NPI project leadership
  • Implements new PSA technologies that meet the needs of our thin bonding business
  • Determines performance differentiators that matter to our customers and develops robust scalable solutions
  • Supports the advancement of our PSA platform to drive new product growth, establish a pipeline of new opportunities via inventions and collaboration across the company

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Three (3) years of product development related new product commercialization experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Chemistry from an accredited institution
  • Five (5) years of new product development and commercialization in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Skills include performance measurement of PSA tapes and adhesives, working knowledge of adhesive formulation and scale up with a willingness to implement new technologies, identifying key customer needs and translating them into winning solutions, ability to work in a cross functional team to deliver results, Good time and project management skills to effectively advance products through a stage gate commercialization process.

  • Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.

Travel: May include up to 20%
