Job description

SQL Developer

Location: Dallas, TX

DLRdmv is driving innovation in the automotive services industry streamlining title, registration, and compliance processes for our clients nationwide. We operate with the efficiency of a seasoned corporation and the energy of a start-up: collaborative, fast-moving, and always evolving.

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated SQL Developer with hands-on experience in AWS RDS, SQL performance tuning, and SSIS ETL development to join our growing data engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically curious developer early in their career to work on real-world data pipelines, cloud database infrastructure, and mission-critical reporting systems.

You will play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing data solutions that power business insights, ensure data accuracy, and support scalable applications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Write, refactor, and performance-tune complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views.
  • Analyze execution plans, add appropriate indexing, and resolve bottlenecks in high-volume environments.

  • Implement best practices for error handling, transactions, and query reusability.

  • Provision, configure, and maintain Amazon RDS instances (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).

  • Manage backups, restores, replication, Multi-AZ deployments, and automated snapshots.

  • Monitor performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and RDS Enhanced Monitoring.

  • Apply security best practices: IAM roles, VPC security groups, encryption at rest/transit, and parameter groups.

  • Design, develop, and deploy SSIS packages for ETL/ELT workflows using Visual Studio and SQL Server Data Tools.

  • Implement data validation, error logging, restartability, and package configurations.

  • Migrate legacy DTS/SSIS packages and optimize for performance and reliability.

  • Schedule and monitor SSIS jobs via SQL Server Agent or AWS SSM/Airflow.

  • Collaborate with analysts and developers to design normalized/denormalized schemas and data marts.

  • Participate in code reviews, data architecture discussions, and sprint planning.

  • Assist in large-scale data migrations (on-prem ? cloud, cross-database).

  • Build reusable ETL frameworks for recurring data loads.

  • Support BI teams by creating staging tables, views, and report-ready datasets.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • 13 years of hands-on experience with:

  • T-SQL (complex joins, CTEs, window functions, dynamic SQL)

  • SQL Server 2016+ (on-prem or RDS)

  • AWS RDS (instance setup, scaling, backups, monitoring)

  • SSIS (control flow, data flow, scripting tasks, deployments)

  • Solid understanding of relational database design, normalization, and indexing strategies.

  • Experience with source control (Git preferred).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication able to explain technical concepts clearly.
