What is sports sales?

Sports sales involve selling products, services, or experiences related to the sports industry. This can include ticket sales for games and events, sponsorship packages, merchandise, and premium seating. The role requires strong communication and negotiation skills and often involves meeting sales targets and working in a fast-paced environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sports sales professional?

To thrive as a Sports Sales professional, you need strong sales acumen, knowledge of the sports industry, and typically a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with CRM software, ticketing platforms, and sales analytics tools is often required. Job description

Youth Sports Photographer and Sales Representative

Picture Pros Photography is looking for outgoing, dependable individuals to join our event team as Youth Sports Photographers and Sales Representatives.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing opportunity that combines photography, youth sports, sales, travel, and event operations. The majority of assignments for this market will take place throughout Southern California, but overnight and regional travel are a regular part of the role.

We are looking for people who enjoy working with others, can stay organized in fast-paced environments, and are comfortable traveling for weekend events.

This Is More Than a Photography Role

Photography is an important part of what we do, but our photographers also play a major role in creating a positive customer experience.

Throughout an event, you may be photographing athletes, organizing teams, speaking with coaches and parents, explaining photo products, assisting customers with purchases, and working closely with your Event Manager and teammates.

Successful contractors are comfortable both behind the camera and interacting directly with customers.

What You’ll Do

  • Photograph youth sports teams and athletes at organized sporting events
  • Organize athletes and coaches efficiently for team photography
  • Capture sharp, professional images
  • Interact professionally with parents, athletes, coaches, and tournament staff
  • Explain available photo products and packages
  • Assist customers with purchasing photos
  • Distribute ordering materials and photo proofs
  • Track assigned teams, sales activity, and event progress
  • Communicate with your Event Manager throughout the event
  • Assist with setup, breakdown, equipment loading, printing, and general event operations
  • Represent Picture Pros professionally while working at youth sporting events

Schedule and Travel

Most event opportunities take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The majority of assignments for this market will be located throughout Southern California. However, contractors must also be comfortable with regional and overnight travel.

Assignments may involve travel throughout:

  • Southern California
  • Other areas of California
  • Arizona
  • Nevada
  • Utah
  • Surrounding Western states

Depending on the event schedule, assignments may include:

  • Early morning departures
  • Long event days
  • Local driving
  • Regional travel
  • Overnight travel
  • Hotel stays
  • Multi-day tournaments
  • Being away from home for part or all of an event weekend

Overnight travel is a regular part of this opportunity. Applicants should be comfortable traveling when assignments require it.

Contractors with greater travel flexibility may have access to additional event opportunities.

This opportunity may be a strong fit for people with experience or interest in:

  • Photography
  • Sports photography
  • Youth sports
  • Coaching or officiating
  • Retail
  • Hospitality
  • Customer service
  • Sales
  • Event staffing
  • Commission-based work

Professional photography experience is helpful, but it is not the only thing we evaluate.

Reliability, communication, coachability, organization, professionalism, and confidence interacting with customers are extremely important to success at Picture Pros.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A DSLR or mirrorless camera
  • Reliable transportation
  • Weekend availability
  • Willingness and ability to travel overnight for event assignments
  • Comfort traveling throughout California and neighboring Western states
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills
  • Confidence speaking with parents, athletes, coaches, and customers
  • Comfort working in a sales and performance-based environment
  • Ability to organize and direct groups of athletes
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry photography equipment
  • Basic computer and smartphone skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions
  • Dependability, punctuality, and professionalism

Compensation

This is an independent contractor opportunity with performance-based compensation.

Picture Pros provides a minimum event protection of $375 for qualifying full-event assignments or earned commission, whichever is greater.

For example:

  • Earn $300 in commission → Receive $375

  • Regional leadership opportunities

Advancement opportunities are based on performance, reliability, leadership, communication, and consistent execution.
