Data Scientist Intern - Fall 2026

This internship offers students the opportunity to work with the data science team on complex sports modeling and pricing problems, contributing to model development while researching innovative approaches to projection and line-setting in daily fantasy sports. Ideal candidates have a strong technical background in computer science, statistics, or related fields, with proficiency in Python and SQL, and a passion for sports analytics and prediction markets.

What you'll do:
  • Learn from the PrizePicks data science team how we approach sports projection modeling, line calibration, and hold optimization across dozens of sports and stat types.
  • Contribute to model development, iteration, and data collection for player performance projections and pricing.
  • Research new approaches to fantasy sports challenges - calibration, probabilistic forecasting, line movement, and stat-level modeling.
What you have:
  • Demonstrable history of projects that are sports-focused or involve probabilistic modeling, forecasting, or prediction markets.
  • Strong technical or quantitative background pursuing a degree in computer science, statistics, math, physics, economics, or similar.
  • Strong coding skills in Python and SQL.
  • Interest in daily fantasy sports, prediction markets, or sports analytics.
What makes you stand out:
  • Experience with lower-level programming languages - Rust, Java, C++.
  • Background in calibration, Bayesian modeling, or building statistical models from scratch.
  • Success in open-source or competitive projects such as Big Data Bowl, Kaggle, or academic research in sports analytics or forecasting.
