Job description

Employment Type: Hourly
Shift: First  
Work Arrangement: Onsite 

Position Summary:

To gather and pre-weigh various dry and liquid ingredients for the benefit of manufacturing product that meets customer requirements. Works directly with and reports to Foreman and Supervisors.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Will work on assigned batch sheet, given by the Foreman of the area
  • Make sure that the area is clean and free of any debris then stage all ingredients for the mixer, dry and wet ingredients
  • Convey all samples to the QA lab and wait on results
  • Pre-shift preparation, ensure that measuring scoops and all other utensils are clean and sanitized and if necessary placed into their proper allergen holding areas
  • Identify and locate ingredients and set up ingredients for weights and assure scale is clean and in working order
  • Follow batch sheet and spice room procedures and ensure all weigh ups are done properly
  • Properly pack, store and identify all pre-weight ingredients, all items shall be clearly marked once open with item number and date on box and/or bag
  • General housekeeping including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, clearing out spice bins out of the spice room at the end of the week for room cleaning by sanitation personnel and then putting back the bins on the following start up day
  • Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls
  • Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • 1 or more years of experience
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Must be able to read well
  • Have basic knowledge of ingredients wet, and dry
  • Basic understanding of how certain ingredients affect each other and the final product

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day.   Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required.  Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements.  In addition, certain jobs may require employees to:

  • Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity;
  • Be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens); and
  • Be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
