Job description

Position: Human Resources Specialist

Location: Merrillville, IN

Job Summary:

Performs HR duties associated with maintaining employee relations, employment, compensation and benefit programs.  In addition to the maintenance and processing of personnel records, assists with recruiting, hiring, orientation, maintenance of annual reviews and licenses, etc.

Education/Experience Requirements:

•       Minimum of High School Diploma or GED with 2-3 years of HR experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Human Resources, Management with 1 year experience preferred

•             Previous experience in recruiting, retention, and/or sales preferred

•             Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point)

•             PHR or SPHR Certification a plus

•             Good written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills

•             Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive and confidential information

•             Good organizational skills including flexibility and ability to manage more than one project at a time; strong attention to detail

•           Must be flexible and demonstrate the ability to adapt to a variety of human resource issues with successful outcomes and demonstrate openness to new ideas and approaches

•         Relates well to people and work in cooperation with others to effectively coordinate activities in order to accomplish tasks

•             Must act independently upon information and make decisions that achieve optimal results

•             Must produce and deliver information in an accurate and timely fashion

•             High level of customer service, initiative, enthusiasm, strong organizational skills and a positive attitude

•             Proven ability to carry out policies and procedures
